‘Fallout 4’ director wants EA Sports to bring back ‘NCAA Football.’ All in favor?
The lack of a college football video game has left “a hole in my life,” says Fallout director Todd Howard.
“NCAA Football was one of my favorite games; they don’t make it anymore,” game director Todd Howard said this week at a gaming conference, according to GameStop. “While I’m here, EA, can you make NCAA Football again, please? That game honestly was important to me. I would play and win the national championship, recruit my team – the pride I felt in doing it.”
This is understandable emotion – one I’ve felt myself on numerous occasions. There aren’t a lot of things in this life better than taking control of, say, North Texas, and beating out Georgia and Alabama for a four-star dual-threat quarterback in 2019 and then riding a triple-option offense all the way to a BCS Championship Game that no longer exists before taking a dream job at LSU or someplace.
There hasn’t been a new version of the game since 2013’s NCAA Football 14, when it became legally problematic that EA and the NCAA were making trucks full of cash on a game that used player likenesses without actually paying those players. But a federal appeals court signaled in September that there was room for the game to return, and EA cryptically teased (but claims it wasn’t actually hinting) about the game’s comeback last month.
“I felt good during the day if I won and I felt bad if I lost to the computer,” Howard went on. “Now they don’t make it anymore and there’s a hole in my life.”
