The fastest player at the NFL Combine this year was a running back, and he wasn’t even one of the two best running backs on his team. Georgia third-string running back Keith Marshall ran a 4.31-second 40-yard dash, the 11th-fastest combine run since 2003.

He got lost in the shuffle at Georgia, but he’s still very fast.

Originally a 4.29, Marshall’s time was adjusted to a “slower” 4.31.

Marshall, who has suffered season-ending injuries twice in his career, was Georgia’s third-string running back in 2014. However, after bursting onto the scene with current Los Angeles Rams star Todd Gurley in his freshman year (2012), Marshall showed he had the tools to be successful, winning the Bulldogs’ Newcomer of the Year award.
Those injuries slowed Marshall’s career, and thanks to a terrible offense in 2015, when he finally got healthy, he was never able to really get going in college.
Georgia has had incredible attrition at running back in the past two years. First, it was Gurley’s suspension and ACL tear, Sony Michel’s ankle injury and Keith Marshall’s leg injury in 2014. Then, it was Nick Chubb’s knee injury in 2015. But luckily, the Bulldogs have also had depth. Even after Chubb went down this year, the Bulldogs had a speedster behind him.
