Charlie Strong wants help finding Texas’ next kicker, so we have some suggestions

You can find football talent in strange places, you just have to look.

Kevin Jairaj-USA TODAY Sports

As Charlie Strong stated on Wednesday following practice, Texas needs a kicker. Their kicker from last season, Nick Rose, is gone, and the presumptive heir to the job, Nick Jordan, opted to give up football. That means there's not a single person on the roster who has attempted a field goal at the college level, and that's not a good place to be.

So, with that in mind, it’s easy to understand when Strong says things like, “If you find me a kicker, send him to me. I need him.“

But the good news for Texas is that football teams across the country have had success finding kickers in weird places before. You just have to have an open mind and be willing to search in some unconventional places. In the interest of giving the Texas staff a boost in their kicker searching efforts, we’ve compiled a list of people who have already shown prowess in kicking things.

Holly Holm. She’s in game shape, and proven she’s got quite a leg.

Shawn Michaels, The Heartbreak Kid. He’s got decades of experience dishing out punishment with his legs, there’s no reason to think he can’t drill some field goals.

Maybe the Muscles from Brussels, Jean-Claude Van Damme, could bring a smooth international flair to Austin. Plus, I mean, we all saw Kickboxer.

Tony Jaa. I mean:

HE HAS FIRE LEGS! Basically any martial arts or action movie stars could work here, but I will give the benefit of the doubt to the guy who can play through his legs catching on fire.

Hulk, both the soccer player and the big angry green fella. One of them can do this.

The other Hulk can probably get a lot of power lined up behind a kick, though accuracy would be a concern. And personal fouls. There are probably going to be lots of those. Actually, maybe this isn’t a good idea.

Not sure how much eligibility Antonio Brown has left, but he's certainly shown an aptitude for the job.

Dimitri Payet, West Ham and French international midfielder who can do things like this.

Walker, Texas Ranger. Hey, you can stay in-state and get the job done.

Alright, that should be enough for the Texas staff to get a head start on their kicker search.
