Floyd Casey Stadium saw 19 seasons where the Baylor Bears won three games or fewer. On Friday, the venerable gridiron was host to one final collapse.
Baylor gave its former stadium one last fireworks display by blowing it up
Floyd Casey Stadium was the home of Baylor football for 64 years. Now you can watch it tumble into a pile of rubble
The last vestige of the Baylor former football home was demolished, slowly tumbling into itself as part of a controlled implosion.
The stadium opened in 1950 and housed the Bears through 26 winning seasons and four years where Baylor won one game or fewer. The team won its last game in Floyd Casey, dismantling in-state rival Texas and clinching the Big 12 Championship and a berth in the 2014 Fiesta Bowl. That game also set the stadium’s all-time attendance record. 51,728 fans watched from the stands.
The Bears moved to McLane Stadium later that year, which is not only on campus, but can also accommodate more fans. Baylor University plans to swap the land where the stadium once stood with a city-owned five acre parcel adjacent to McLane Stadium once the land has been cleared of debris.
