Michigan State Spartans

The Spartans bounced back from an ugly 38-18 loss against Notre Dame with a strong effort against Iowa, defeating the Hawkeyes, 17-10. The win brought Michigan State’s record to 3-1 SU and ATS on the year, with the team allowing 14 points or fewer in all three of its wins.

Michigan State has already matched last year’s win total coming off a disappointing 3-9 SU and 4-8 ATS campaign.

After starting its season with four straight home games, Michigan State will be on the road for the first time this week. The Spartans are 0-4 SU and ATS in their last four games away from home per the OddsShark College Football Database.

Michigan Wolverines

Michigan has picked up where it left off last year on defense, ranking No. 1 in the nation in yards per game allowed with 203 and eighth in points per game allowed with 13.5. On offense, the Wolverines will turn things over to John O’Korn with Wilton Speight set to miss multiple weeks with a soft tissue injury.

The Wolverines have won 10 straight games at home and are 5-1 SU and 6-0 ATS in their last six games played in Week 6.

Saturday night’s total is set at 40 points. The OVER is 3-0 in the last three games between these two Big Ten rivals.

The Wolverines are at their best when they are able to control the tempo of the game with their running game and elite defense. Michigan State’s sophomore quarterback Brian Lewerke is the X-factor in this game; he has looked sharp through the first month of the season, but facing one of the best defenses in the nation in a hostile environment will be the toughest test of his young career.
