Severe weather near Ann Arbor could delay Michigan State-Michigan game
Mother Nature threatens to interrupt a rivalry game.

More pressingly, there was a tornado warning not far from Ann Arbor. That’s the thing boxed in by red lines here, not far to the northwest of Ann Arbor:
You can follow the storm’s radar images here. An hourly forecast, updating throughout the night, is here. It says heavy rainfall’s coming to Ann Arbor, and it’s also windy.
College football games don’t usually stop for even the most torrential downpours. They do stop for lightning and anything else that the game’s officiating crew deems too unsafe a condition to play football in, such as a nearby tornado. As important as this rivalry is, there’d be little sense in trying to play through the worst of this storm, if it’s nearly as bad as radar images suggest it will be.
It’s exceedingly rare for a delayed game to not get finished eventually, and this one will certainly wrap at some point. The games that do get canceled for weather are almost always non-conference matchups. So if you’re in the crowd at Michigan Stadium, there’s a chance you’re in for a long night.
