The LSU-Florida football rivalry has been heating up since about 2006, but it’s reached new heights in the last year. The teams bickered publicly about the terms of a game rescheduling around Hurricane Matthew last year, and when that game was finally played, Florida won in Baton Rouge on a goal line stand at the end of it.
LSU players clapped back at Jim McElwain after the Tigers beat Florida
After beating the Gators in 2017, Derrius Guice and others turned around a McElwain comment from 2016.

The game was initially scheduled to be played in Gainesville. Some media members accused Florida of using the hurricane to avoid LSU, and Florida didn’t like that line of criticism. So after the game, Gators coach Jim McElwain felt feisty:
Florida also walked its flag around Tiger Stadium and played an LSU hype song in its locker room:
As a result of last year’s relocation, the teams’ 2017 meeting was played Saturday in Gainesville. LSU won a road squeaker, 17-16. Afterward, Tigers running back Derrius Guice dispensed with any subtweeting and went straight after McElwain:
Guice had 17 carries for 50 yards, but a win’s a win, and a burn’s a burn. And he wasn’t alone.
LSU’s roast session was capped off with an imitation by punter Zach Von Rosenberg and long snapper Blake Ferguson.
Even the specialists were clapping back at McElwain after the revenge win. Savage.
