With multiple reports that former Oregon and NFL head coach Chip Kelly is choosing UCLA over Florida as his return to college coaching, I give you this:
Days after firing Jim Mora on Jim Mora’s birthday, UCLA’s hiring Chip Kelly on Chip Kelly’s birthday
Don’t say the Bruins aren’t thoughtful.

Yep, Nov. 25 is Kelly’s birthday.
Days prior, this happened to Jim Mora on Nov. 19:
Kelly’s giving the bigger gift to UCLA, bringing national attention and expectations to a program that’s been without them for a long time, despite bringing in a handful of five-star recruits along the way. He had a chance to take over the Gators and could’ve added plenty more suitors if he’d let the coaching carousel fill up a little more, but picking the Bruins this early also means a chance to catch up on recruiting before mid-December’s new early Signing Day.
This is rightly being called a game-changing hire by UCLA. We’ll see if Kelly still has his old touch, but just like that, the Bruins should be considered Pac-12 contenders in the near future.
So happy birthday and welcome home (to college football) to Kelly, and congrats to UCLA.
