Lamar Jackson vanquishes Kentucky with a grocery store meme you either absolutely get or absolutely don’t

Rivalry weekend: Where shopping is a pleasure.

Look upon this, mere mortals. Lamar Jackson reigns hellfire upon Lexington.

Jackson atoned for last year’s poor performance against his in-state rivals and then some with this performance today in the win:

  • 15-of-21 passing for 216 yards, two TDs, and no picks
  • 18 rushes for 156 yards

He also had a minor fracas with a Kentucky player. Either way, he got the job done and did indeed torch the Cats. But the regional grocer burn is easily the most savage part of the day for Jackson.

In that photoshopped picture, the side of Kentucky’s stadium reads as “Commonwealth Stadium.” But that’s no longer its name, as it was rebranded Kroger Field.

In May, UK announced the naming rights to the stadium had gone to Kroger, the second-largest grocery store chain in the United States. The agreement will pay the school $1.85 million annually for 12 years.

Kroger may be big, but it’s not as prominent in Florida where Jackson is originally from. ‘Round those parts, the only grocer we recognize is Publix.
