Look at this beauty of a box score from Army’s 21-0 win over Air Force:
Army beats Air Force without attempting a pass, which it seems like has been Jeff Monken’s plan all along
It’s like he’s been building to this his whole career.

That’s Army’s pass line. There are no players in it, there are zero attempts. Zero. Not one. Null set.
This is basically Army coach Jeff Monken’s fever dream if there ever was one. His option teams don’t throw often because the run-first offense pretty much focuses on one thing. Throughout his career, Monken’s been building to this moment.
But there’s more context to that tweet, mainly, the words “without completing a pass” that jogs the memory back to a fateful day in 2013 when Georgia Southern beat Florida. The Eagles marched into The Swamp with Monken as head coach and handed the Gators their first loss to an FCS team in school history (GSU would make the FBS leap the next season).
That day Georgia Southern also didn’t complete a pass.
So congratulations, coach Monken. You finally did it. The achievement has been unlocked, and you’ve proven that it’s possible to get the job done without even pretending you have a passing offense.
