Dec. 3, when bowl pairings were announced: Stanford-TCU should be great. Wait, TCU in the Alamo again? Ha ha, can you imagine what it’d be like if Stanford got out to a big lead in the 2017 Alamo Bowl? That’d remind everybody of the 2015 season’s Alamo Bowl, when Oregon got out to a 31-point lead and then lost.
Both of TCU’s huge Alamo Bowl comebacks against Pac-12 teams involved crucial shirt changes
Gary Patterson’s switch from black to purple in the 2015 season’s comeback against Oregon got a late sequel in 2017’s comeback against Stanford.

Dec. 27: Seriously, that’d be pretty wild. Gary Patterson would have to change his shirt at halftime again, ha ha. Magic TCU shirt change! Alamo tradition! Come on, y’all. Get excited about the Alamo Bowl.
Dec. 28, 9:39 p.m. ET: Hmm, Stanford’s up 14-3.
10:05 p.m. ET: Hmm, Stanford’s up 21-3. Time to change the shirt, GP, ha ha. You know? Like last time?
10:58 p.m. ET: He didn’t change shirts. Stanford’s gonna hang on. TCU’s always gotta change shirts in Alamo Bowl comebacks, or else they don’t happen.
11:06 p.m. ET: Bryce Love with the nice 69-yard TD to make it 28-16. That oughta just about do it.
11:35 p.m. ET: OK um it’s a one-score game entering the fourth, 31-23.
11:41 p.m. ET: A 93-YARD TOUCHDOWN PASS FROM KENNY HILL TO JALEN REAGOR NEARLY TIES IT UP LMAO THIS IS HAPPENING. The failed two-point try on the pass to a big dude wearing No. 98 just makes it even more certain.
11:49 p.m. ET: ROFL TCU IS AHEAD
12:12 a.m. ET: Stanford scores and likewise misses the two-pointer. Too late for GP to change the shirt.
12:25 a.m. ET: TCU WITH THE GAME-SEALING INTERCEPTION AFTER THE GO-AHEAD FIELD GOAL MADE POSSIBLE BY STANFORD MISSING THE TWO-POINTER.
12:35 a.m. ET: Lmao they really did it again. Never ever ever take a multiple-touchdown lead on TCU in the Alamo Bowl, especially if you’re a Pac-12 North team. And to think: they did it without anyone on TCU’s side changing shirts along the way! Wait ...
Yep, that’s a TCU fan changing shirts on the field after the game just to get a pic with Heisman finalist Love. Officially a TCU Alamo Bowl comeback tradition.
