Birmingham Bowl 2017: USF vs. Texas Tech location, date, and more
Date, time, location, team records, and more on this newly announced bowl game.

Where is the Birmingham Bowl, and how can I watch?
Stadium and city: Legion Field in Birmingham, Al.
Date and time: Dec. 23, Noon ET
TV and streaming: ESPN and WatchESPN
What should I know about the two teams in the Birmingham Bowl?
USF (9-2, 6-2 in AAC)
The Bulls are a program of streaks. They didn’t make a bowl game in their first five years of top-division football under Jim Leavitt, but then they made six in a row and won four of them.
Then they had another four-year drought, but now they’ve qualified for the postseason three years running. This was the best USF team in a while, at least since the Bulls squad that touched No. 2 in the BCS ranking in 2007.
This year’s team is really good. The Bulls narrowly lost to UCF in one of the best games of the season, and that kept them from the AAC title game and a New Year’s bowl shot. But their led offense, led by quarterback Quinton Flowers, is excellent, and they’re a fun team to watch.
SB Nation’s The Daily Stampede covers the Bulls all the time.
Texas Tech (6-6, 3-6 in Big 12)
The Red Raiders are in a bowl game for the first time since 2015, and they’ll try for their first win in such a game since they beat Arizona State in the Holiday Bowl in 2013.
That was Kliff Kingsbury’s first year on the job, which he likely saved for himself by beating Texas on Black Friday. The Red Raiders’ defense stopped being awful this season, and the offense stayed strong enough to create a vastly improved product overall. Texas Tech still isn’t a top-tier Big 12 contender, but this was an encouraging season in Lubbock.
