What should I know about the two teams in the Camellia Bowl?
Arkansas State (7-4, 6-2 in Sun Belt)
The Sun Belt’s surest winning bet had another strong season. The Red Wolves will play in a bowl game for the seventh year in a row, which happens to also be just the eighth time in program history the Red Wolves have made one.
The program has found some stability under Blake Anderson after cycling through three head coaches in three years a couple of seasons ago (Hugh Freeze, Gus Malzahn, and Bryan Harsin). This year’s ASU was typically strong in the Sun Belt and almost beat the Big Ten’s Nebraska in Week 1, though that didn’t turn out to be such a feat.

Middle Tennessee (6-6, 4-4 in Conference USA)
The Blue Raiders will bowl for the fourth time in the last five seasons under coach Rick Stockstill. They still haven’t won a bowl game since 2009, when they beat Southern Miss in the New Orleans Bowl. So they’ll try to have a better postseason experience this time around, as they continue to entrench themselves as a dependable mid-major.
MTSU is a good deal better on defense than offense this year. The Blue Raiders do a good job bottling up the run and are dependable enough on the back end to keep totals low.
