Michigan State fans were hoping to be chosen for that game, given Sparty’s superior record and head-to-head win. But the bowl chose the Wolverines, who have a strong fan base that travels well for bowl games.

That’s a reference to his comments in his first year at Michigan State, before he beat Michigan eight times over the next decade.

As for the bowl snub, a few MSU fans attempted to start a #BoycottOutback hashtag on Twitter, which has since been hijacked by Michigan fans.
The Michigan fans’ usage of the hashtag is pretty great, to be honest.
