Hugh Freeze’s exit inspired Mississippi State’s subtweet master to strike again

Leo Lewis got his shot in without using any words, just like the last time Hugh Freeze was in public trouble.

Mississippi State linebacker Leo Lewis has become a somewhat central figure into the NCAA’s investigation into Ole Miss.

The NCAA gave Lewis immunity in the hope that he’d speak candidly to investigators about potential recruiting violations committed by Ole Miss — a school he ultimately didn’t sign with when he was the No. 1 inside linebacker in the class of 2015.

In February, Ole Miss self-imposed a bowl ban and admitted to committing some NCAA violations. Lewis, who now plays for the team’s bitter Egg Bowl rival, tweeted:

Lewis’ tweet later showed up, with his name redacted, in Ole Miss’ response to those NCAA allegations. The school sought to discredit him as someone out to hurt a rival.

Lewis tweeted again after Freeze lost his job on Thursday.

Ole Miss reportedly discovered a call to an escort service on Freeze’s university-issued phone. His offensive line coach, Matt Luke, is replacing him atop the program.

Lewis added a GIF in a since-deleted tweet. A still:

That’s from Jay Z’s music video for “I Just Wanna Love You (Give It 2 Me),” which came out in 2000. It’s just as the ages-old saying goes:

Sometimes, a subtweeted GIF is worth a thousand words.
