Utah’s confused coach kept getting asked about ‘Game of Thrones’ on Twitter

One of the hottest shows of the summer, HBO’s Game of Thrones, had its season seven finale on Sunday night. The final episode of 2017 didn’t disappoint in leaving avid watchers (myself included) completely shook when it ended.

On Monday, Utah football’s Twitter decided to have an #AskCoach session with Utes head coach Kyle Whittingham. Given that this came a little over 12 hours after the finale aired, the head coach, naturally, got some GOT questions thrown his way.

Warning: GOT spoilers ahead!

Right on cue, literally the very first question Coach Whittingham received was about the finale. Specifically, it was about Daenerys Targaryen’s dragon that was turned into a wight (essentially, a zombie, for those who don’t watch) by the Night King that was seen bringing down The Wall with fire at the end of the episode.

Coach Whittingham, not knowing what the question meant was very confused, to say the least.

He was asked again about the finale, about Lord Baelish’s execution at the hands of Arya Stark, as sentenced by Sansa. Clearly, Whittingham doesn’t watch, and his reaction was similarly hilarious to the first question.

Finally, someone asked him specifically about the episode by using the show’s name, and it all made sense to Whittingham now.

The entire #AskWhittingham session including only eight tweets that were answered by Whittingham, but this is obviously a hilarious miscommunication for someone that clearly doesn’t watch the show. Some advice for Coach: Start watching during the offseason so next year this type of Q&A session can feature a lot more Game of Thrones fun! As is, the Utes are certainly having a good time with it.
