No. 20 Washington State was tied with Boise State 10-10 at halftime of the Cougars’ game at home on Saturday night. The Broncos scored a touchdown and a field goal in the first half, then Boise’s defense held the Cougars to less than 200 yards in the first half.
Someone please explain what Mike Leach is trying to say in this halftime interview
The WSU head coach had a strange halftime interview.

As Wazzu head coach Mike Leach went to the locker room at halftime, ESPN sideline reporter Quint Kessenich asked him about the challenges that Boise’s offense was giving his team. Leach’s response was, well, puzzling.
Kessenich: “Coach, what’s the biggest challenge that Boise’s defense has thrown at you?”
Leach: “Playing on offense, actually playing.” [walks away from the interview]
I literally have no idea what Leach meant here, but this is seriously hilarious, and a classic Leach move. The WSU head coach is one of the quirkiest head coaches in the sport, an image perpetuated by things like having a 90-minute phone conversation with a person he didn’t mean to dial, and telling reporters last season that he was “borderline great” at dodgeball. He’s currently fighting the state of Texas in the press about its sovereign immunity law.
Stay weird forever, Coach Leach.
