Baker Mayfield tells Baylor players they ‘forgot who daddy is’ and he’ll spank them

Mayfield’s probably going to have a big night.

No. 3 Oklahoma plays at 0-3 Baylor Saturday night in Waco (6:30 p.m. ET, FS1). The Sooners are going to win by a lot. Beforehand, their quarterback warned Baylor, “You forgot who daddy is. I’m gonna have to spank you today.”

While the two teams verbally skirmished near midfield, OU’s Heisman candidate QB Baker Mayfield walked over and chimed in with his spanking threat.

It’s the second time this year Mayfield’s gotten bold around the 50-yard line. After crushing Ohio State in Columbus a few weeks ago, Mayfield speared an Oklahoma flag into the Buckeyes’ logo. Someone or something convinced him to apologize later, even though flag-planting is a fairly harmless thing for a college student to do.

Graphic imagery aside, Mayfield has torched Baylor of late. He lost to BU in 2013, when he was playing for Texas Tech. But at OU, he’s 2-0 against the Bears with this line: 44-of-59 passing for 570 yards, five touchdowns, and two interceptions. Oklahoma won by three touchdowns last year and 10 points in 2015.

If Mayfield isn’t correct about destroying Baylor, that’ll be a massive surprise. Oklahoma’s offense has been devastatingly good, and Baylor recently gave up almost 600 yards of offense in a loss to FCS Liberty.

That performance included letting Liberty’s QB score a touchdown on a busted play, when he miscommunicated with his running back and probably would’ve been sacked by a competitive FBS defense. The play was so funny we Yakety Sax’d it:

Mayfield will do just fine against that defense, I think.
