Georgia coach Kirby Smart announced that Jacob Eason would be out against Notre Dame Saturday. That means freshman Jake Fromm will be pressed into starting duty.
New UGA starting QB Jake Fromm was a 2011 Little League World Series player
It’s important to be a multisport athlete.

You know the former four-star high schooler can play football, obviously. But you might not know that he was a pretty good baseball player in his day as well. Fromm pitched for a Warner Robins, Ga. Little League team in 2011 that came within two games of a United States championship.
He was pretty integral to the team’s success:
Fromm played in front of crowds larger than 30,000 at the Little League World Series in 2011. He was one of the tournament’s best players, hitting three home runs and driving in eight runs. He also struck out 11 batters.
This video is a pretty sweet look back at the team’s ride to Williamsport:
Anyone who subscribes to the theory that athletes should play multiple sports should love this. You can be elite in more than one sport, and many think it’s necessary for the holistic development of a young athlete. Now Fromm’s got the keys to the Georgia football program, at least for now.
