This is the definition of an elite punt, imo. Late in the second quarter of 2018’s game between No. 7 Georgia and No. 9 Florida, Gator punter Tommy Townsend punted the ball so damn high that it literally hit the wire of CBS’ floating SkyCam:
You should get a point for your punt hitting the SkyCam wire, tbh
This is really hard to do!

Both the referees and CBS’ Gary Danielson and Brad Nessler took a minute to figure out what the ruling is for this, but the referee called for a repeat of fourth down, and allowed Townsend to kick it again. It didn’t really make a difference, as Townsend booted it again for 71 yards and a Georgia touchback.
This doesn’t exactly happen very often — it happened back in 2011 the 9-6 Game of The Century between LSU and Bama, for one example, though.
One other notable SkyCam incident was during the Insight Bowl between Oklahoma and Iowa, when the SkyCam came crashing down on Hawkeyes’ receiver Marvin McNutt
Most recently, a Utah punt against Oregon went a little too high, too:
Stay safe, SkyCam.
