10 of the wildest numbers that defined Ohio State’s blowout of Michigan

That’s one stat per every time OSU scored points against UM.

Ohio State blew Michigan the hell out in the 2018 version of The Game. It’s as shocking of a result that the rivalry series has ever seen, when you consider the fact that Michigan entered the game with arguably the best defense in the country, and Ohio State’s own offense was seemingly incapable of running the ball as effectively as it should.

I could tell the story of this game with words, but I prefer numbers here. And 10 significant ones stand out.

62: points scored by Michigan against Ohio State

It’s the most ever scored by the Buckeyes against the Wolverines.

It’s the most points scored against a Don Brown-coached defense in at least the last decade, since he became an FBS assistant full-time.

Also:

8.5: yards per play for Ohio State against Michigan

UM averaged 3.97 against all other opponents (No. 2 nationally).

8: touchdowns allowed by Michigan

That’s the most since 2010.

0: sacks by Michigan on Ohio State

Ohio State’s gameplan was impressive because of how quickly it asked Dwayne Haskins to get rid of the ball. This was partly to protect him from a fearsome Michigan pass rush. But Haskins stayed clean in the pocket all day, and it’s the third time a Brown UM defense has gone sack-less in 37 games.

.000: Jim Harbaugh’s win percentage against Ohio State. It’s the worst mark for any Michigan coach.

Technically tied with Rich Rodriguez, but he was 0-3. Harbaugh’s 0-4.

7: times Urban Meyer has beaten Michigan.

Only Woody Hayes and Jim Tressel have done it more often.

6: Dwayne Haskins touchdown passes

The most Michigan has ever given up to an opposing quarterback. Ever.

9: Ohio State passing plays over 20 yards

Michigan had given up 19 combined in its other 11 games (No. 4 nationally).

78: yards gained by Parris Campbell on this touchdown.

Michigan’s only given up one play for more yards all season. That was against Rutgers too, so it barely even counts.

14: Ohio State wins in the last 15 tries against Wolverines. OSU’s won 16 of the last 18 too.

Is it still a rivalry if one team’s doing all the winning? Maybe so, but when these two teams get it on again in Ohio it’ll be 20 years between Michigan wins in Columbus if they can get it done in 2020.

In the end, Urban Meyer said it best.
