Who’s playing in the 2018 Hawaii Bowl?

Hawaii (8-5, 5-3 in Mountain West)

The Rainbow Warriors have an extremely fun offense, which you only got to watch most of the time if you were still awake at approximately 2 a.m. ET on Sundays. They had four ugly losses right in the middle of the season, separating a 6-1 start and a 2-0 finish. They’ve put up some big totals with two different QBs, Cole McDonald and Chevan Cordeiro, and have a pass game that’s both efficient and explosive. They also give up a ton of points, so get ready for a game that challenges a huge over.

Louisiana Tech (7-5, 5-3 in Conference USA)

The Bulldogs are 109th in Offensive S&P+ and 116th on special teams. So, how are they here? Defense. They’re 47th on that side of the ball, which is tremendous for a Group of 5 program. They play the run solidly as a team, and they have one of the country’s most dominant pass rushers in senior end Jaylon Ferguson: 15 sacks, 23.5 tackles for loss.

Where is the Hawaii Bowl?

Aloha Stadium in Honolulu. That’s the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors’ home field and the former site of the NFL’s Pro Bowl.

When is the Hawaii Bowl, and how can I watch it?

It’s at 10:30 p.m. ET on Dec. 22 on ESPN.

The Hawaii Bowl has been on Christmas Eve every year since 2004, and it’s generally had the bowl calendar all to itself. Maybe you’ve sat at home and watched it while waiting for Santa to slide down your chimney around halftime. This year, there are no college football games on Christmas Day, as the sport has left TV to the NBA and NFL.
