Who’s playing in the 2018 Pinstripe Bowl?

Miami (7-5, 4-4 in ACC)

The Hurricanes had a disappointing year, going from 10 wins in 2017 to wall-to-wall mediocrity in 2018 (and seven wins so far). Mark Richt’s management of his QB situation was shaky all along, and while the defense that spawned the turnover chain continued to be quite good, Miami’s offense never came close to pulling its weight. Their special teams were also bad, highlighted by what might have been the worst punting game in the country. Miami’s recruiting has been strong (though it’s dipped a bit for 2019 so far), and this bowl will be a chance to cap a bad year and get out of it.

Wisconsin (7-5, 5-4 in Big Ten)

Wisconsin just wasn’t Wisconsin this year, either in results or team strengths. This team’s best phase of the game was offense, not defense, and specifically pounding the ball upfield all afternoon with running back Jonathan Taylor. The defense weirdly failed to generate any pressure on opposing QBs, and the Badgers laid eggs in games against good opponents (Michigan, Penn State) and iffy ones (Northwestern) alike. That Northwestern won the West was as much a commentary on UW as on NU. The Badgers even lost to Minnesota for the first time since 1931. (An estimate. Don’t look that up.)

Where is the Pinstripe Bowl?

Yankee Stadium in New York City. It’s the house that Jeter built, or where the Yankees play, and it’s in the Concrete Jungle.

When is the Pinstripe Bowl, and how can I watch it?

5:15 p.m. ET on Thursday, Dec. 27. ESPN for TV, and WatchESPN for streaming.
