Potato Bowl 2018, Western Michigan vs. BYU: Where, when, and team info
The game in Boise, Idaho now has its matchup.

Who’s playing in the 2018 Potato Bowl?
BYU (6-6)
The Cougars didn’t have the year it looked like they were going to have after they beat Wisconsin in Madison back in Week 3. That was their final notable win, and their losses included a 7-6 monstrosity at home to NIU. But they’ve nonetheless made big strides over 2017, when they went a stunning 4-9 and looked nothing like the consistent bowl team they’ve been forever. This makes 13 bowl appearances in 14 years.
Western Michigan (7-5, 5-3 in MAC)
The Broncos had the misfortune of getting left out of a bowl amid a scarcity of spots in 2017, despite going 6-6. That didn’t happen at 7-5, with a solid Broncos offense covering up for an iffy defense and what S&P+ says is the worst special teams in the country (130th out of 130). An ankle injury to junior QB Jon Wassink has forced freshman Kaleb Eleby into action for the last four games, and Eleby’s done well aside from getting sacked a lot. It’s helped to have two quality backs behind him in Le’Vante Bellamy (6.2 yards per carry) and Jamauri Bogan (15 TDs).
