Georgia quarterback Jake Fromm is an avid outdoorsman. To that end, Fromm participated in a Fishing League Worldwide tournament last weekend in Guntersville, Ala., as discovered by an observant poster over at Reddit’s college football page. This particular competition was a college fishing event, made up of two-person teams from schools all over.
Georgia QB Jake Fromm lost to Tennessee. It was in a fishing tournament.
It could hold up as Fromm’s only loss ever to some Vols.

The winners were two men from the University of Tennessee, John Lambert and Logan Brewster. They caught five bass weighing a field-best 25 pounds and 9 ounces.
Fromm and his partner are listed in 234th place on the event’s leaderboard, but it’s not clear from that board that anyone below 179th place actually caught any fish. Fromm’s a Georgia native and has vast hunting and fishing experience, including this big catch in 2016:
As far as I know, this is Fromm’s first defeat as a college student at the hands of students from Tennessee. He’s 1-0 against the Vols in football, having quarterbacked the Dawgs to a 41-0 win at Neyland Stadium in 2017. That was UT’s worst home loss since 1905.
(In the interest of thoroughness, Fromm had to do almost nothing in that game, but a win is a win. This fishing tournament also wasn’t an NCAA event, but Vols are Vols.)
I’m not a betting person, but if I were, I would bet this stands as Fromm’s lone defeat to Tennessee during all his years in Athens.
