The Arizona Cardinals probably should have thought this one through. On Twitter, the Cardinals unveiled a new team slogan — brick by brick — that’ll be used during the season. They even gave each player on the team a brick with their names on it:
Tennessee fans warn Arizona Cardinals about using Butch Jones’ ‘brick by brick’ slogan
Maybe the Cardinals should have thought this one through.

This phrase may sound familiar to college football fans, as this was the same exact phrase coined by former Tennessee head coach Butch Jones, who was fired before the season was over last November. Let’s just say several Vol fans were very reactive of the re-use of the infamous Jones slogan. The Cardinals’ mentions were filled with concerned Vol fans, and it was pretty funny:
And there are more where that came from!
It’s safe to say Jones’ slogan, along with quotes like “five-star hearts” and “champions of life,” has turned into a punchline to sum up Jones’ Tennessee career. Earlier this month, a Republican candidate running for Congress in Tennessee posted an ad trolled Jones and his brick-by-brick slogan, claiming “unlike Butch Jones, when I say I’m gonna do something, I actually do it.” .
Maybe the Cardinals can turn the result of this slogan around, but this might make some Arizona fans nervous if they’re familiar with Tennessee’s use of it.
