Notre Dame Fighting Irish

The Fighting Irish entered the month of November last season with 7-1 SU and ATS record with their only blemish coming in a one-point loss to Georgia that improved with age as the Bulldogs thrived throughout the season. Notre Dame was knocking on the door of a playoff spot before finishing the regular season on a 2-2 SU and 0-4 ATS slump that included a disastrous 41-8 road loss to Miami.

This program has been inconsistent under Head Coach Brian Kelly and this game could set the tone for the entire season in Notre Dame.

Home field has done wonders for the Fighting Irish in this head-to-head rivalry as Notre Dame is 6-2 SU and ATS in its last eight home games against Michigan per the OddsShark College Football Database.

Michigan Wolverines

Michigan was elite on defense in 2017 ranking third in the nation in yards per game surrendered with 269 and best in the nation in passing defense allowing only 142.7 passing yards per game. But with awful quarterback play hampering the offense, the Wolverines sputtered out down the stretch and finished the season with an 8-5 SU and 5-7-1 ATS record.

The defense will once again be excellent in 2018, so this season’s success could lay squarely on the shoulders of Ole Miss quarterback transfer Shea Patterson.

Saturday’s total is set at 47 points. The OVER is 6-1 in Notre Dame’s last seven September games.

The line on this game originally opened with Michigan as a slight road favorite at -1.5 before being bet down to Notre Dame as a small home favorite. Regardless of where the line eventually closes, this should be a highly competitive game between two teams ranked in the Top 15 in the AP Top 25 preseason poll.
