Auburn Tigers
Auburn is off to a great start in 2018, opening the season with a 21-16 win over a very strong Washington Huskies team before breezing through a 63-9 win over Alabama State last Saturday. The Tigers now turn their attention to LSU, who may be the team’s last legitimate threat until November.
Road games at Georgia and Alabama loom at the end of the season, but a win Saturday would put Auburn firmly on track to enter that Georgia game on Nov. 10 with a record of 9-0 SU.
The Tigers have been dominant at home in recent seasons with a 13-0 SU and 7-4-2 ATS record in their last 13 games at Jordan-Hare Stadium. Auburn has beaten its opponents by an average of 30.5 points per game over that stretch.
LSU Tigers
Concerns about Ed Ogeron being on the hot seat were quieted in LSU’s season opener when the Tigers scored a convincing 33-17 win as 3-point underdogs over the Miami Hurricanes.
Ogeron has led the Tigers to a 7-2 SU and ATS record over the team’s last nine games, but there are still doubts as to whether or not the Tigers can beat the top teams in the conference. The Miami game was a nice step in the right direction, but a win over Auburn on the road would give the team some real momentum the rest of the way.
Saturday’s total is set at 44.5 points. The UNDER is 8-1 in LSU’s last nine road games against Auburn according to the OddsShark College Football Database.
This could be a make-or-break game for both of these teams. The team that comes out on top will be poised to potentially play spoiler to Alabama in the SEC West. The loser may have trouble bouncing back in the toughest division in college football.
