Ohio State Buckeyes
When Urban Meyer was suspended for the first three games of the 2018 season, this was the game to which Buckeyes fans turned their attention. As expected, the Buckeyes dismantled a pair of doormats in Oregon State, 77-31, and Rutgers, 52-3, in their first two games of the year. Facing TCU in a hostile environment will be a different story and could put this coaching staff to the test.
So far however this Buckeyes team certainly looks the part of a playoff contender. In their last eight games as a favorite of two touchdowns or less, the Buckeyes are 6-2 SU but just 2-6 ATS per the OddsShark College Football Database.
TCU Horned Frogs
TCU came into this season with hopes this could be one of Gary Patterson’s best offenses to date, and so far the Horned Frogs haven’t disappointed. The team racked up 55 points in a 55-7 win over Southern and followed that up with a 42-12 road win over SMU.
Adding a high-powered offense to a defense that usually ranks among the best in the Big 12 could spell success for the Horned Frogs in conference play this year; an upset over Ohio State would set the season’s aspirations even higher. TCU is 12-2 ATS in its last 14 games as a double-digit dog.
Saturday night’s total is set at 59 points. The total has gone OVER in each of Ohio State’s last five games away from home.
This should be a fun one. Both teams have loads of talent on both sides of the ball, so a defensive battle, offensive shootout and everything in between is possible this Saturday. Ohio State has the talent edge, but this game could be a lot closer than the spread suggests.
