Alabama Crimson Tide
Tua Tagovailoa was brilliant once again in Alabama’s 57-7 win over Arkansas State last week, passing for four touchdowns and 228 yards on 19 pass attempts. The sophomore has completed 71.4% of his passes with six touchdown passes and no interceptions through Alabama’s first two games of the season.
Reports this week indicate that Jalen Hurts may redshirt for Alabama this season, paving the way for Tagovailoa to hold on to the starting job for as long as he stays healthy.
The Crimson Tide are 25-1 SU and 14-11-1 ATS in their last 26 games against SEC opponents per the OddsShark College Football Database.
Mississippi Rebels
The Rebels have plenty of firepower on offense, as they’ve shown in jumping out to a 2-0 SU and ATS start while averaging 61.5 points per game. But Ole Miss also has major problems on defense and those have also been on display in allowing 34 points per game through their first two contests.
Ole Miss was gouged for 270.5 rushing yards per game in conference play last season including allowing 365 in a 66-3 loss to Alabama. The Rebels are 3-8 ATS in their last 11 games at home.
Saturday night’s total is set at 70.5 points. The OVER is 3-0 in the last three meetings between Alabama and Ole Miss.
The only chance Ole Miss has in keeping this one close is to produce on offense against one of the nation’s best defenses. This Rebels defense does not have the talent to stop an offense as well-rounded and overpowering as Alabama’s. Bettors considering taking the Rebels on Saturday night should strongly consider a parlay with the OVER.
