Hi, who do you think has the best uniforms in college football? Are you a fan of timeless tradition, like at Alabama or Penn State, or newfangled innovation, like Oregon or Maryland? It’s a fun little debate.
Tulane’s HUMONGOUS ANGRY WAVE helmets are a work of art
The Green Wave alternate logo is finally its appropriately big-ass size.

OK, your opinion was interesting, but it is also wrong. The correct answer is Tulane. Especially after their equipment department released the special uniform they’ll wear this weekend against Memphis.
At first glance, it looks like a standard “blackout” type uniform, right? Sure, it’s a little interesting because of their unique green and blue color scheme, but nothing that would make you stop what you’re doing, right? Teams wear all black all the time. Some of them look cool. Some ... don’t.
BUT THEN LOOK AT THAT HELMET! IT’S A GIANT ANGRY WAVE AND IT RULES!
The Tulane Angry Wave, a throwback logo they’ve been using for a couple years now, is perfect college football iconography. In a sport rife with Tigers and Bears and Wildcats, it is completely unique. It’s retro (look at it holding an old-timey cheerleading megaphone!). it’s also a little bit absurd (it’s, uh, an angry wave). I love it so much.
The difference in this helmet: how huge the Wave is. When you have something beautiful and unique, the best thing to do is plaster it all over your helmet so you have giant teeth sticking out of the back of your player’s heads.
This is a great uniform. it’s got a great color scheme. It’s innovative. It’s completely ridiculous. It’s perfectly college football.
Kudos to the Tulane equipment department for leaning into what makes them cool. I hope all the recruits love this as much as 30-something sports bloggers do.
