Tour de France 2014 results and standings, Stage 13: Nibali wins and leads
Vincenzo Nibali was not only Friday’s stage winner, but he also leads the race overall.

Friday was the first day in the Alps, and Nibali had some competition from Alejandro Valverde Belmonte, who finished fourth in the stage but moved into second place overall. Valverde Belmonte attacked first, but he couldn’t hold off Nibali’s attack, as the Italian rode to victory.
Still, the day was not lost for Valverde Belmonte, who was pleased with the race, according to the Tour’s website: “I rode full gas to do the best I could but when Nibali attacked I couldn’t follow him. Tonight I’m second overall. It’s very well.”
He has some more time in the mountains to try to steal one from the star of this year's Tour.
