Detroit Lions running back Joique Bell was activated from the PUP list Monday and practiced for the first time all month. Bell is expected to be fully ready for the Lions’ Week 1 opener against the San Diego Chargers.
Joique Bell activated from PUP, remains risky fantasy investment
The veteran Lions back is practicing for the first time this preseason. We break down the fantasy implications.

Bell spent the entire offseason recovering from knee and Achilles injuries, and he opened training camp on the PUP list, missing all three preseason games so far. Rookie Ameer Abdullah has been getting starting reps in the preseason, with Theo Riddick and UDFA Zach Zenner also mixing in for snaps.
Fantasy impact: Bell is on track to be the Lions’ starting running back, but his age (29) and injury history are both major red flags. Abdullah has done enough to earn himself a big role in Detroit’s offense, while Zenner has all but played himself onto the 53-man roster. Even if Bell is the starter in Week 1, he’s unlikely to keep it if his injury issues come up again. Bell’s ADP has fallen to the seventh round, which could make him a potential value pick as an RB2, but the risks are real.
