Week 3 of the fantasy football season is upon us. Below we will take a look at the standard running backs heading into Week 3. So far, the No. 1 standard back is James Cook, who has picked up his touchdown scoring where he left it last season. Touchdowns are king in standard, while total yards come in second. Our man Christian McCaffrey has had a decent start to the season, but is RB6 in standard and RB2 in PPR. He has just the one touchdown, while all those receptions only help get his total yards up. We know he’s a touchdown machine, so I’m not worried about him finding the end zone as the season goes along.

Running back injuries

Aaron Jones, Vikings

Jones suffered a hamstring injury on Monday night and won’t be able to play this week against the Bengals. Jordan Mason should get a nice bump in a good matchup.

Austin Ekeler, Commanders

Ekeler is done for the season with a torn Achilles. Jacory Croskey-Merritt will continue to see early down work and will be opened up to more snaps, while Jeremy McNichols will take on more passing down work.

Tyler Allgeier vs. Panthers

Allgeier had 16 carries for 76 yards and a touchdown with a big lead on Monday night and 10 carries in a close game in Week 1. The Panthers can be run on, and Allgeier should again see his 10+ attempts in this one. We’re looking for touchdowns and Allgeier always has a shot at a goal line look or two.

Cam Skattebo vs. Chiefs

Skattebo is a tough back to get on the ground and should continue to have value around the goal line. This matchup is tough, but if I need a flex in standard leagues, I’m okay giving Skattebo a shot.
