The 5-3m Los Angeles Chargers head to Nashville as 9.5-point favorites against the 1-7 Tennessee Titans. This game looks like it could be lopsided, leading to more work for Chargers’ running backs, but the team has let Justin Herbert throw the ball more than expected this season and the Titans are a weak defense across the board.

One receiver has take a back seat for the Chargers of late and his name is Quentin Johnston. He started the season incredibly hot and looked to have taken over the WR1 spot from Ladd McConkey. But, after missing one game with a hamstring injury, his usage has fallen. It fell as low as no receptions on no targets last Thursday night against the Vikings. Is this the new normal for Johnston?

Below, we’ll go over Quentin Johnston’s outlook in fantasy football for Week 9.

Fantasy Football analysis: Chargers, WR, Quentin Johnston

Johnston’s no target game came after a game where he had two drops and some poor play all around. Drops have been a problem for Johnston in the past, but we had seen such strong play from him before his hamstring injury that it is hard just to throw him back to the scrap heap.

The emergence of Oronde Gadsden doesn’t help, as they now have four string targets in McConkey, Keenan Allen, Gadsden and Johnston. Those are too many mouths to feed for all of them to find fantasy value. But that doesn’t mean the team will abandon Johnston. We know he has truly great upside with Herbert throwing him the ball and they won’t want to bury him completely. A game following a no target game against a 1-7 team sure would make for a reasonable spot to get Johnston back in the fold.

If they don’t make a concerted effort to get him the ball this week, then I doubt it is as high on their agenda as I believe it is. But, I’m giving him one more week to prove he’s worth a fantasy start.
