The Saints on Tuesday signed former Seahawks and Cowboys back Julius Jones after top available reserve Ladell Betts committed a few critical screw-ups on Sunday in a loss at Arizona.
Fantasy Football, Week 6 News: Don’t Fall Over Yourself Trying To Pick Up Julius Jones
↵While it might seem like New Orleans could be giving the recently cast off Jones to get some carries in the team’s Week 6 game at Tampa Bay, even in a best case scenario, Jones won’t be much of a pick-up over the long haul. Without knowing the offense, Jones is highly unlikely to get the bulk of the carries unless Betts and Chris Ivory screw up royal again early against the Bucs. Should that happen, chances are the team would find itself in a position where running the ball wouldn’t be advisable.
↵But say everything shakes out perfectly for Jones in Tampa, it would be short lived. There were rumblings that starter Pierre Thomas was going to return against Arizona and there will likely be more in advance of the game against Tampa. Even if Thomas misses another game because of his injured ankle Sunday, in all likelihood, he would return the following week against the Browns at home.
