With rookie quarterback Colt McCoy starting and breakout running back Peyton Hillis banged up and missing Thursday’s practice, the Cleveland Browns offense looks like it will be hard pressed to move the ball against a extremely tough Pittsburgh defense on the road.
Fantasy Football, Week 6 News: Joshua Cribbs Best Play For Browns Against Steelers
↵But there is hope for one player. When the Browns beat the Steelers in Week 14 last season in Cleveland, they did it despite starting quarterback Brady Quinn going 6-for-19 for 90 yards. A stat line like that isn’t out of the question for a rookie making his first career start. So how did Cleveland move the ball? Mostly with Joshua Cribbs operating out of the Wildcat formation.
↵Cribbs finished that game with eight rushes for 87 yards, though no scores. Those aren’t spectacular fantasy numbers, but if Hillis is unable to go, there won’t be any other running options for Cleveland outside of Mike Bell, who was just acquired this week. And obviously Cribbs might even be asked to try a few gimmick throws to keep the defense from teeing off on the Browns depleted offense.
