Fantasy Football Waiver Wire, Week 7: The Other Mike Williams

Looking for a spot-start player in Week 7? We’ve got the guys that should be available on the waiver wire.

Still looking for waiver wire help this late in the week? That’s fine, we’ve got you covered.

Mike Williams (SEA) - With Deion Branch leaving Seattle to rejoin with Tom Brady, Mike Williams emerged as the Seahawks top threat in a big way on Sunday. He was targeted a hefty 15 times by QB Matt hasselbeck while no other Seattle wideout had 5. Remember that Williams previously starred under HC Pete Carroll in their days at USC. Williams has every tool to be a top receiver in the NFL and it appears that he is finally living up to the hype bestowed on him a few years ago. He's been given a great opportunity and should continue to see close to double digit targets going forward. He's a fine WR2 in an avian matchup against Arizona this week.

Jason Avant (PHI) - If you saw the hit that WR Desean Jackson took in Sunday's game doesn't need to wait for the injury report to know that Jackson will be held out of Sunday's game against Tennessee. With WR Jeremy Maclin set to step into D-Jax's flanker spot, Jason Avant will crack the starting lineup opposite Maclin. With the way QB Kevin Kolb has the Eagles offense rolling, Avant could be in line for a solid Sunday stat line. Expect at least 7 targets for Avant as the Eagles continue to throw in Andy Reid's west coast offense.

Chris Ivory (NO) - One of the more peculiar storylines this season has been the absence of RB Pierre Thomas from the Saints huddle. Thomas hasn't handled the rock since Week 3 and again missed practice on Wednesday. While Ivory and recently signed Ladell Betts had been splitting work fairly evenly in recent weeks, Ivory's 15 carry, 158 yard performance should go a long way to tilting the workload in his favor. It's important to note that Betts was given goal line work on a late TD, but we think Ivory makes for a squeaky-clean Flex start this week against a surprisingly stout Cleveland run defense. Thomas could come back next week and RB Reggie Bush will be back eventually but for now Ivory is the man in the Big Easy.

Kris Brown (SD) - The Chargers signed Brown this week, signaling that K Nate Kaeding's groin injury will keep him sidelined this week. Brown is a 12 year veteran who will go from waivers to kicking for an elite NFL offense. If your roster includes Kaeding or a kicker on a bye, you should add Brown before someone else does.
