Week 7 Fantasy Football Tips: Exploiting Advantageous Matchups

It’s go time. You’ve weathered the storm that is the beginning of the fantasy football season, and even if you’re off to a poor start, you’re channeling your inner Jed York and pronouncing your team ready for a second-half push for the playoffs. No matter what position you’re in, it’s time to start strategizing to win some games - and taking advantage of juicy fantasy matchups is the best way to sneak out unlikely wins.

These four NFL players have particularly excellent fantasy matchups in Week 7 - so if you don’t have these players in your starting lineups, it’s time to make the switch.

Ravens QB Joe Flacco. Quarterbacks that play the Buffalo Bills average 200 passing yards and two touchdowns per contest, while throwing just one interception through five games. Joe Flacco has thrown four 999 yards, six touchdowns and one interception in his last four games. Pretty much every fantasy-worthy Raven is worth a play this week, but Flacco in particular has an opportunity for unusually gaudy statistics.

Panthers RB DeAngelo Williams. Playing in the NFL's worst offense by a country mile, Williams has still managed to carve out a consistent workload - and more importantly, consistent production - through Carolina's first five games. That, my friends, is the mark of a quality running back. Williams' big-play ability makes him a tough matchup for the San Francisco 49ers, as Mike Singletary's defense has given up seven runs of over 20 yards - more than every other NFL team except Oakland.

Bengals WR Terrell Owens. To say that Owens is on a roll right now is an understatement; in the two games prior to Cincinnati's Week 6 bye, Owens caught 17 passes for 224 yards, with two long touchdowns. In Week 7, the Bengals face an Atlanta Falcons team that is rather susceptible to the big play, as exemplified by Kevin Kolb's performance in Week 6. Atlanta will also be missing star cornerback Dunta Robinson, so Owens should see plenty of work once again.

Browns TE Benjamin Watson. In his first season with the Browns, Watson has emerged as the team's best receiving threat. He has at least three receptions in every game this season, but it's his work of late that has been impressive: in his last four games, despite working with three different quarterbacks, Watson has caught 22 passes for 240 yards and two touchdowns. His consistent production should continue against a New Orleans Saints team that allows six catches and 70 yards on average to tight ends.
