Fantasy Football Week 7 Start ‘Em Sit ‘Em: No Mercy From Percy Harvin

Find out which players should crack your starting lineup and which ones you should relegate to a backup role in our start/sit.

Start

WR Percy Harvin (@ GB) - Harvin has posted spotty production this year, failing to post a score or over 35 yards in three contests. The entire Viking offense has failed to achieve its 2009 form thus far but Brett Favre (who’s always up for a trip to Lambeau), WR Randy Moss (17 Monday night TD’s) and Adrian Peterson (4.9 ypc) will all be up for the divisional tilt against Green Bay. This game could be a shootout as both teams possess downfield weapons and sub-par secondaries. The Packers could get CB Al Harris back from injury, but even a little rust could be exposed by the speedy Harvin. Harvin makes for a high-upside WR2 this week.

RB DeAngelo Williams (vs. SF) - The second round pick has been a major disappointment this season, though Williams isn’t to blame. The Panthers lack any semblance of a passing attack (ranked 32nd in the NFL) has relegated a once mighty rushing unit to under 100 yards per contest. Making matters worse for the playmaking Williams is his lack of opportunity, as his 4.7 yard per carry average comes on just over 13 carries per game. The Panthers come off their bye in a home must-win against the 49ers. The extra practice time help QB Matt more create some space, allowing Williams to find a seam in the defense, which he’ll expose. He’s a risky play given the state of the Panthers clawless attack but Williams is an elite NFL back due for a breakout game.

QB Kyle Orton (vs. OAK) - Has any player been hotter to start the 2010 season? He’s currently on pace for over 5100 yds, has gotten at least 33 pass attempts in every game and has just 3 turnovers in 6 games. If Orton is on your team you’ve probably been starting him for a few weeks now and have to like his matchup against a Raider defense that has allowed 2 passing TD’s in each of their last 3 games. With the Raiders stuck between Jason Campbell and Kyle Boller it’s entirely possible that Denver wins this game by a large margin, potentially limiting Orton’s stats. But with Denver’s hatred for all things silver and black and the Bronco running game still on the mend, expect close to 280 yards and a pair of scores for Orton.

Sit

RB Michael Bush (@DEN) - The hamstring injury to Darren McFadden opened the door for Bush to claim the starting gig, but his Week 6 performance (20 rushes, 47 yards) won’t keep DMC sidelined when he returns to action. Bush is a nice interior runner, a bruiser who moves the pile well. But he is not nearly as talented on the outside or in the passing game, areas where McFadden excels. Bush is likely to return to short yardage and goal line duties severely hampering his value. After all, goal line backs are only fantasy commodities on elite offensive units. Keep Bush stashed this Sunday, but hang onto him as an insurance policy for the injury-prone McFadden.

WR Kenny Britt (vs. PHI) - With QB Vince Young questionable with a sprained knee, Britt’s value takes a huge hit. The two looked impressive to start the game against Jacksonville last week, but Britt didn’t record a catch once Kerry Collins checked into the game as the veteran opted to check down to TE Bo Scaife. Even if Young is able to go the Eagles top-10 defense against opposing wideouts won’t allow Young and the passing game much. Hopefully Young is able to heal quickly for Britt’s long-term value, but expect his TD streak to end at four games on the road this week. He’s a high risk/reward WR3 this week.
