Which sleepers will wake up in Week 8? We’re setting the alarm clock for these two guys.
Fantasy Football Deep Sleepers, Week 8: To Be Blount, Take Hart
Bye weeks sapping your lineup of its punch? We’ve got the midweek adds that could come up big at week’s end.
LeGarrette Blount (AZ) - The rookie led the Bucs in carries (11) and yards (72) as HC Raheem Morris delivered on his promise to create a full-blown RBBC in Tampa. The Oregon product looked decisive and powerful, helping his team turn a third quarter deficit into victory. Blount is the superior between the tackles runner and outgained teammate Cadillac Williams 2:1 in yards per carry. In Week 8 the Bucs will travel to Arizona to take on a Cardinal run defense that has surrendered over 1,000 yards to opposing RB's through 6 games. Fantasy owners should expect Cadillac to continue to dominate third down work, as he is the more talented receiver and pass protector, limiting Blount to 12-15 touches-more than enough to serve as a bye week RB in 12-team leagues.
Mike Hart (HOU) - Lets be clear. Despite the absence of TE Dallas Clark, WR Austin Collie, and RB Joseph Addai the Colts will still attack through the air. But the Colts would be wise to establish some semblance of a running game as they look to avenge their Week 1 loss to Houston. With Addai out of the mix, one would expect Donald Brown, a former 1st rounder, to see the bulk of the carries. But its former 6th rounder Mike Hart that has impressed the Colts staff this season. Brown's interior running has helped the Colts secure two games that were very much in question. Many around the league are surprised that Brown has not won the starting job outright in this, his second year, and conventional wisdom suggests that Brown might not be worth what the Colts paid for his services. Perhaps most importantly, Hart has shown that he is solid in pass protection and has earned the trust of HC, err, QB Peyton Manning. With the Texans already sieve-like defensive front now having lost LB Demeco Ryans for the year, look for Hart to emerge as the top running option this Monday and a nice flex option for your fantasy squad.
