Week 4 of the 2010 fantasy football season saw some unusual fantasy stars (Shaun Hill, Ryan Fitzpatrick) while fantasy football stars of yesteryear (Terrell Owens, LaDainian Tomlinson) returned to put up big days.
NFL Week 4 Fantasy Football Roundup: Arian Foster, Giants Defense Come Up Big
Here’s a look back at the week that was in fantasy football.
Here’s a fantasy football roundup for Week 4.
Remember me?
LaDainian Tomlinson and Terrell Owens were fantasy football stars a few years ago but lately they haven’t been much better than average.
That changed on Sunday.
I wouldn’t expect those guys to do that every week but it was a reminder of what they once were.
Arian Foster may be legit
In Week 1, Texans RB Arian Foster flew onto the scene racking up over 200 rushing yards in a massive day. That made a few people take notice.
In Week 4, he didn’t play in the first quarter, likely suspended for some sort of internal rules violation.
But he got his numbers anyway. Foster had 187 total yards and a pair of touchdowns leading the Texans to a 31-24 victory over the Raiders.
Giants defense comes up big with record breaking day
The Giants defense was a big winner on Sunday Night Football against the Bears.
The Giants sacked Jay Cutler 10 times in all and a record-breaking nine times in the first half. They added a pair of interceptions and a forced fumble.
You don’t get massive days like this from your defense very often. Those of you who started the Giants defense are likely settling in for a win this morning.
Quarterbacks you don’t hear from very often
There were a handful of quarterbacks on Sunday that made fantasy football waves that you don’t normally hear from.
- Jags QB David Garrard completed 17-of-22 passes for 163 yards and three total touchdowns.
- Lions QB Shaun Hill completed 34-of-54 passes for 331 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions.
- Bills QB Ryan Fitzpatrick completed 12-of-27 passes for 128 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions.
These aren’t the greatest performances in the world but they’re better than what you’d expect out of each of these guys.
Philip Rivers, Antonio Gates continue hot streak
The Rivers-to-Gates connection has been solid this season.
On Sunday, Gates was a top fantasy scorer 144 yards and a pair of touchdowns while Rivers 15-of-20 passes for 240 yards and two touchdowns in a blowout victory over the Cardinals.
Rivers threw for 455 yards last week. He’s entering (if he’s not already there) the elite level of quarterbacks.
