Jets receiver Santonio Holmes and Steelers quarterback joined their respective teams after fulfilling their four-game suspensions. While the fact that they were suspended hurt each player’s initial draft value, those who selected them might now be awarded for their patience.
Fantasy Football Week 5 News: Santonio Holmes And Ben Roethlisberger Return From Suspension
↵While neither player is exactly an elite fantasy option at their respective positions, they are surefire starters capable of putting up significant output.
↵Obviously Roethlisberger isn’t a starter for Week 5 as the Steelers have their bye before he can make his debut the next week against Cleveland, but Holmes is an intriguing case. Santonio is a top grade talent, but he hasn’t worked with quarterback Mark Sanchez in game action outside of the preseason. Neither player was able to practice with their team during their suspension, so rhythm with teammates has to be an initial concern.
↵At the same time, even if Holmes had yet to establish a great connection with Sanchez, he is able to make plays on his own. The Steelers were fond of throwing the ball to Holmes at the line and let him use his great open field ability to make plays. That’s not going to result in many 50-yard touchdowns, but it means he’ll get looks and will be an asset in PPR leagues.
