While in all likelihood, the Saints will be forced to tandem of Ladell Betts and Chris Ivory for Sunday's game against the Cardinals, Sean Payton said today that he remains optimistic that starting running back Pierre Thomas will be back from injury in time to play.
Thomas missed Thursday's practice nursing an ankle injury. If he can take part Friday, it would be a good sign for Thomas owners for Sunday, as the Saints are going up against the Cardinals dreadful run defense, which is giving up the third most fantasy points to opposing backs this season.

In the best case scenario, Thomas will have to share carries with Betts. Last week, that was good enough for both Mike Tolbert and Ryan Mathews to put up decent numbers for the Chargers, but with Thomas at less than 100 percent, if he is cleared to go, he is only worth a start for owners very thin at RBs this week.
