It’s week 11 of the 2010-11 NFL season, which means only three weeks of regular season fantasy football remain.
Fantasy Football Advice, Week 11: Mark Sanchez, Anquan Boldin Are Primed For Big Games This Weekend
Three NFL players who we like as solid starts for your fantasy football lineup, all of which are in favorable match-ups this weekend.
This is crunch time, it’s time to over-take the guy that has been one game up on you all season. It may be late, but there’s a postseason berth somewhere out there up for grabs, and we’re going to help you get it.
We’ve done our homework, and here are three players we project are going to have stellar fantasy football performances on Sunday:
Last week, we suggested a play-against the Texans and their porous pass defense which ranks dead-last in the NFL, giving up 301 yards per game. The result was QB David Garrard throwing for 342 yards and two touchdowns, putting up 24 fantasy points.
Now, QB Mark Sanchez gets the benefit of facing this atrocious Texans secondary at home. The same quarterback who, according to analysts, was due for serious regression this season.
Apparently, Sanchez never got that memo, as he has passed for 635 yards in his last two games, putting up an average of 22 fantasy points in said games. That’s pretty good, certainly worthy of a start this week. We like the Jets to take some shots down-field and open up their passing game this week, with Sanchez’s fantasy owners reaping the benefit.
This Texans secondary made the following quarterbacks look like world-beaters this year: Bruce Gradkowski, Matt Cassel and David Garrard. Do the math and start Sanchez.
Boldin is becoming QB Joe Flacco's favorite receiver; he's been targeted 17 times more than any other Raven this season.
Carolina Panthers are the NFL's lowest scoring team, and wouldn't know a quarterback if it hit them in the face. They'll be starting QB Brian St. Pierre, who has thrown only five passes in eight NFL seasons.
As a result, we project a lot of short fields for Baltimore thanks to their opportunistic defense, which means a lot of red zone targets for Boldin. A lot of possessions for Baltimore should equate to a lot of fantasy points for Boldin, so make sure you start him.
QB Shaun Hill - Detroit Lions -- (Suggested waiver wire pickup)
Is there anything wrong with starting the quarterback of a pass-heavy team that ranks No. 1 in passing attempts at 43.4 times per game? Yeah, we didn’t think so, either.
In the five games that he has started in their entirety, Hill has passed for over 300 yards in three of them. He has averaged 17.2 fantasy points in said games.
The Cowboys field a solid defensive front, but sport a banged-up secondary which ranks No. 21 against the pass and is giving up 232 yards per game. With both of their starting corner backs, Terence Newman and Mike Jenkins both listed as questionable, we like Hill to attack the Cowboys secondary which is why we think he is worthy of a start this week.
If you’re looking for a starting quarterback, Hill is still available as a waiver wire pickup in many leagues.
