The fantasy football playoffs are quickly approaching for many of us which is why it was so alarming to hear this week that Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger had an injury that landed him in a protective boot. That definitely sounds bad.
Ben Roethlisberger’s Injury Lands Him In Protective Boot; Expected To Play
But it’s not bad.
Head coach Mike Tomlin confirmed to reporters on Tuesday that Roethlisberger is expected to play next week despite the injury, which is a sprained right foot. Tomlin says Roethlisberger may not practiced on Wednesday but, either way, he’s expected to be ready.
That's good news because the Steelers play the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday night in what might ultimately decide the AFC North. But it's also good news for fantasy football players (read: me) who have Roethlisberger on their team as the playoffs get closer.
Roethlisberger’s projected stats won’t be changed much because of the injury, which was actually re-injured last Sunday. The Ravens defense is very, very tough so I’m not sure he’s a great play in Week 13 at all.
If for some reason Roethlisberger can’t go, it’ll be Byron Leftwich taking his spot but I wouldn’t even worry about picking him up. You know Roethlisberger won’t miss this game.
