It’s week 13 of the NFL season: crunch time. Most fantasy football players have only one or two weeks remaining until the postseason begins.
Fantasy Football Advice, Week 13: Sam Bradford, Santonio Holmes Are Primed For Big Games This Weekend
Three NFL players who find themselves in favorable fantasy football match-ups this weekend.
We’ve done our homework, and we’re going to do the best we can to secure you a playoff berth. Here are three suggested starts who we project to put up big fantasy numbers this weekend:
QB Sam Bradford (St. Louis Rams) - suggested waiver wire pickup
Arizona's pass defense is dreadful and made QB Troy Smith look like a world-beater last week. They rank No. 25 against the pass (249.3 yards per game), and the quarterbacks they have faced this season in divisional play have been sub-par at best.
If you don’t currently have a top-five quarterback in your lineup, this is the week to pull the trigger and start Bradford. Furthermore, he is still available in most leagues as a waiver wire pickup. We look at it as low risk, high reward.
Bradford has put up double-digit fantasy points for six consecutive weeks now; and be it that he's facing the Cardinals defense, don't expect that streak to end anytime soon.
RB LaDainian Tomlinson has been relatively quiet since his fireworks earlier in the season. The Jets have not noticed, however, as Santonio Holmes has been explosive and picked up the slack. The wide receiver has four touchdowns in his last three games, two of which were walk-off touchdowns in overtime.
The New England Patriots may be 9-2, but their defense is far from what it used to be. In fact, they rank dead-last in the NFL in passing yards allowed (288.5 yards per game).
Rookie CB Devin McCourty will have the task of defending Holmes throughout most of the game, but it may be a long day for the young man. We see this as a very favorable matchup for Holmes, and project him to continue to put up big numbers and shine on Monday Night Football.
Inconsistent has been Johnson's middle name. Two weeks ago, he mustered a 31-point performance and lead the Bills to victory over the Bengals. Last week against the Steelers, he followed that up with five dropped passes (including what would have been the game-winning touchdown in overtime).
Don't give up on him, though. He was still targeted 15 times, and has shown the tendency to bounce back strong after a bad outing. After his higher-power Twitter meltdown which followed the Steelers game, we like him to do just that this week and be very involved against the Minnesota Vikings.
Johnson is capable of a big play every time the ball is thrown his way. He is also the Bills lone big-play threat. Start him on Sunday.
