Pity the fantasy owners who drafted Beanie Wells as a top 25 fantasy running back with the assumption that this would be his breakout season with a team needing the running game to thrive with the passing game taking a step back. It wasn’t bad enough that by preseason’s end it was clear that Wells would continue to split carries with Tim Hightower, but he went on the miss the first two full games of the regular season with a bruised right knee.
Fantasy Football, Week 3: Beanie Wells Suits Up But Is He Worth A Start?
↵Beanie’s absence will come to an end on Sunday, when the Cardinals play the Raiders. Oakland is a pretty ideal match-up for any running back, but even though head coach Ken Whisenhunt has made it clear that Beanie will play, it’s not highly likely that Beanie will be the featured runner immediately upon his return.
↵After all, Beanie only still went through a limited workout on Wednesday. If he gets any work, it will be sparing and outside of the red zone. Unless someone who drafted him is woefully thin at RB depth, Beanie owners are better off waiting until Arizona’s fourth game.
