Final Fantasy Football Week 3 Advice: Brandon Marshall Won’t Be Stranded On Revis Island

Brandon Marshall will face a Revis-less Jets secondary, Brett Favre looks to restart his 2010 season and other quarterbacks hope to retain their starting positions this week.

With kickoff for the first NFL games of Week 3 approaching here’s a quick look around the league as we share some last-minute fantasy football news and advice.

Darell Revis Hurt, Antonio Cromartie To Cover Marshall

With Revis Island castaway due to injury, Brandon Marshall will have the ability to run rampant in tonight's game versus the Jets. Marshall has so far put up respectable stats on a typically run first team (12 receptions, 124 yards). Last week's Jets game showed that even with Revis the Jets are susceptible to a well thrown long ball and Marshall is due for a touchdown. The Jets sported one of the best rush defenses last season, so Miami would be wise to rely on its wide receiving core with a Revis-less Jets secondary. Points-per-reception leagues will especially profit from today's match up for Marshall.

Lions Provide Opportunity For Brett Favre To Finally Show Up

While the Lions offense proved it can put up points and stats last week, its defense did not show it can stop anyone. Michael Vick and LeSean McCoy ran circles around the Lions defense, combining for 24 attempts, 158 yards and 3 touchdowns, exposing the Lions rush defense. Vick also had one of the best passing games of his career, going 21-34 for 284 yards and 2 TDs. The Vikings are averaging only 9.5 points per game (second lowest in the NFL) and Favre is in possibly the worst funk of his career (37-63, 396 yards, 1 TD, 4 INTs). While Adrian Peterson is set for a prime rushing day, Favre also has a chance to put up some numbers. Also, Percy Harvin has been cleared to play in today's game.

Mike Tolbert In, Ryan Mathews Out For Chargers?

Reports have Mathews missing, or in the very least having limited carries, today's game for the Chargers. Mathews suffered an ankle sprain last week versus the Jaguars and has yet to fully recover from the injury. He did not practice on Thursday and Tolbert impressed last week (16 carries, 82 yards, 2 TDs). With Phillip Rivers confidently leading a Vincet Jackon-less passing game, Tolbert should once again put up good numbers.

Vince Young Appears To Be Back As A Starter

Kerry Collins stint (again) as Titans starter is seemingly at an end. Vince Young is out on the field, throwing balls around with the starters during pre-game warm ups. Young as a fantasy starter is always an iffy thing and he played poorly enough last week to be benched mid-game. Even with the Titans playing a Giants team that has yet to show signs of life on defense, Young should be carefully handled by fantasy owners. Chris Johnson will most likely be the main source of offense for the Titans.

Michael Vick, Now Eagles Starter, Will Throw, Throw And Throw Some More

Think Vick is a run first QB? Vick proved last week versus the Lions that he can sit in the pocket and make throws. It’s apparent that the Vick of yesteryear is no longer around. While Vick has showed off his ability to extend plays and create offense with his arm. In six quarters this season, Vick is 37-58 for 459 yards, 3 TDs, 0 INTs and has rushed 19 times for 140 yards. With the amount of talent and weapons around him, Vick looks poised to have another great day versus a rather lackluster Jaguars defense (23rd in both passing and rushing defense).
