So far in 2010, Ravens running back Ray Rice has performed like the elite rusher he’s been billed as since last season, unfortunately he’s been mostly disappointing in his first season as a consensus top five pick in fantasy football. Rice has yet to reach the end zone. And while he’s been averaging more than five yards per carry the last two games, he’s only gone over 100 total yards once this season.
Ray Rice Might Still Play In Week 4, But Is He Worth A Start In Fantasy?
↵He left Sunday’s victory over Cleveland with 10 minutes remaining. Things looked dicey as Rice required crutches to get off the playing field. While many expected an extended absence because of a sprain, an MRI on Monday revealed only a knee contusion, leaving his status uncertain for Sunday’s game in Pittsburgh.
↵Willis McGahee, who the Ravens had considered trading not long ago, performed well after Rice left against the Browns. But the Steelers are a far different story. Pittsburgh has the third ranked run defense through three weeks, one spot ahead of the New York Jets, who held Rice to a mere 43 yards on 21 carries. That means that unless Rice makes astounding progress the rest of the week, his owners would be better suited sitting what was likely their top pick.
